Helen Mountfort
Helen Mountfort is a classically trained 'cellist and composer based in Melbourne, Australia. Originally from New Zealand Helen is primarily known for her work with well respected Melbourne bands Not drowning, waving, and My Friend the Chocolate Cake, and Cosmo Cosmolino.
Helen also composes and performs with The Persephone Project, Indian/Javanese influenced trio Fine Blue Thread and An Embrace of Cellos- a collaboration with her daughter Alice and niece Francesca Mountfort. Helen has written a great deal of music for theatre, film and TV. She has had a long standing collaboration with dancer/choreographer Ros Warby, producing three major shows that have enjoyed extensive international touring and won numerous Green Room Awards.
Helen has produced four solo CDs.
The Persephone Project is an album of original instrumental music performed by Helen Mountfort with Hope Csutoros, violin and Phillipa Safey, piano.

The Naked Cello is a collection of original solo cello music released in 2018
Upside Down at the Bottom of the World is a set of pieces for small ensemble written and recorded for ABC Radio National as a commission for the centenary of federation.
